A ring with two clasped hands, a symbol of unity and affection. Two hands clasped in faith indicate closeness and love that can never be pulled apart.  Clasped hands in the form of a ring originated centuries ago and were particularly popular in Roman times and during the Medieval period.

Both men and women wore these rings and gave them as love tokens. Sometimes called fede rings, or Hand-in-Hand rings, these rings have appeared all over Europe. In Italy, they are known as Mani in fede, or Hands in Trust or Faith. Fede rings are also thought to be the predecessor to the Irish Claddagh Rings, also pictured below..
