I can only imagine that mum got her charm bracelet as a teenager or young adult. My mother Eileen was born in 1921.
As a child, one of my favourite pastimes was to go through mum's
jewellery box!
I was intrigued by the bracelet because several of the charms had working parts, the spur on the riding boot, the
scissors charm and little b
ook charms and notes that had writing on them.
Writing about my mother's bracelet has reminded me of how little we really know about our own parents and their hopes and aspirations and how a wealth of stories are lost when they pass.
